Job Description:
Unity College invites applications for an assistant professor of environmental humanities and writing. We seek a colleague to teach general education, humanities, composition, and oral communication classes as well as contribute to our major in Environmental Writing and Media Studies.  The successful applicant will be committed to undergraduate teaching and will support the overall mission and vision of Unity College.

Unity College is a private college in rural Maine that provides dedicated, engaged students with a liberal arts education emphasizing the environment, natural resources, and sustainability science.  The highly engaged students, staff, and faculty are united by their common interest in developing sustainable solutions to the pressing environmental problems of the 21st century.

All candidates must demonstrate teaching excellence, the ability to advise/mentor effectively, and a research agenda in the field of environmental humanities. Appointees will have a PhD in environmental humanities or a related field in hand by date of hire.

Preferred qualifications:

-Experience teaching undergraduate humanities, composition, and oral communication classes.
-Understanding of interdisciplinary approaches to environmental studies.
-The ability to collaborate with colleagues from a range of disciplines.
-Strong communication skills.
-Facility with new media and multimodal composition.
-Experience with development and delivery of online classes
-Commitment to cultural diversity and sustainability.
