Invitation and Call for Papers

In October 2015 (Sat., 24th to Mon., 26th), Alwin Fill and Hermine Penz will organize a symposium on Ecolinguistics with special emphasis on the topic of Discourse(s) on Environmental Problems. The symposium aims to bring together researchers from all fields of linguistics who are interested in how environmental issues are discussed in various spheres of social life (media, politics, everyday communication, professional groups, etc.). We invite submissions for papers (length about 20 minutes plus 10 minutes for discussion). There will also be time for a general discussion.

We welcome papers on all relevant topics of ecolinguistics, particularly on the discourse relating to the following topic areas:

- energy and resources

- genetic engineering (e.g. genetically modified crops, food, cloning)

- climate change

- biodiversity

- waste (toxic waste, plastic waste, waste trade)

- sustainability

- natural catastrophes

- etc.

The Conference venue will be the English Department of Graz University (Heinrichstrasse 36, A-8010 Graz, Austria). The conference languages are English and German.
