CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

The IECA is announcing a call for applications to form an “educator fellows” team for 2020 and 2021. The team will be comprised of up to five IECA members who teach or support environmental communication courses or programs. Team members receive complementary IECA memberships for 2020 and 2021.

ELIGIBILITY: Team members must be current IECA members. Applicants can come from K-12 or college/university settings, or work in a teaching capacity in non-profits or company settings. Applicants can include faculty members or graduate students.

ACTIVITIES: Team members’ activities will include the following:

a)  Work together (with support of the Executive Director) to create original content (assignments, video modules, webinars, joint student projects, etc.) for the IECA educator platform that will be made available to IECA members who teach environmental communication courses. The platform will leverage content and expertise derived from IECA members and resources. This original content will be built up over time, archived, and made available to participating educators, students and other members via the “member only” section of the IECA web site.

b)  Pilot utilization of IECA student memberships (via a new “IECA Explorer” membership category that will offer a substantial discount on regular student memberships) as part of environmental communication courses that they teach or support during the remainder of 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic years.

c)  Develop metrics (quantitative and qualitative) for assessing the program.

d)  Agree to provide a collectively-written interim report to IECA board in Summer 2020 and a full report of results/next steps to IECA membership at COCE 2021 via either a pre-conference or a panel session at the conference.

APPLICATION: To apply, individuals should send a one-page statement of interest (including description of current courses or programs taught, estimated enrollments and frequency of offerings, or other student-related data) plus copy of current cv to Steve Depoe, Educator Fellows lead member, at depoesp@ucmail.uc.edu. Deadline for applications is November 30, 2019. Applicants will be informed of fellowship selection by no later than December 15, 2019.
