LICA’s 2nd Interdisciplinary Meeting on Environmental Communication in Brazil

The 2nd IMEC (EICA in Portuguese) is a biennial initiative of Interdisciplinary Lab on Environmental Communication (LICA in Portuguese), associated with Communication Master Program, which will take place at Universidade Federal de Sergipe (a public university located in Brazilian northeast region), from May 27 to May 29, 2013.
We invite submissions for selected papers in Portuguese and Spanish only, which will be reviewed by blind method. Among EICA 2013’s Scientific Committee members is IECA’s Board of Directors member Anabela Carvalho, Ph.D.; Department of Communication Sciences, University of Minho, Braga (Portugal).
Paper sessions must address how information, communications, media, digital technologies and audiovisual production have been contributing (or not) for facing contemporary ecological and socio-environmental problems, especially from a cross-disciplinary perspective. Relationships between environmental issues and communication theories and practices, as well as innovative theories, methods, and objects of analysis will also be welcome. Papers which not address any relation to communications issues (in an abroad sense) will not be considered.
Papers must be submitted in one of these two categories:

  1. Scientific papers – from academic researchers and Master or Doctorate candidates, be them theoretical or empirical works;
  2. Pratical reports - from practitioners or students' environmental communications innovative experiences and initiatives.

Selected papers will be grouped by subject proximity for oral presentation sessions.
