Established in 2011, the IECA is the association for environmental communication professionals engaged in teaching, research and scholarship, media and creative arts, policy, and advocacy across the globe. To be a platform for thought leadership on environmental communication by catalyzing transdisciplinary research and international collaboration, and sharing insights that promote environmental health and justice.

Our Mission

The IECA strives to advance the field and practice of environmental communication by:

providing an international forum for networking and collaboration;
supporting research and scholarship in environmental communication;
supporting practitioners and applied professionals in the use of environmental communication tools and best practices;
building connections and partnerships with non-governmental organizations, policymakers, businesses, institutions, and community groups;
developing and sharing education and training in environmental communication;
elevating just and inclusive environmental communication that catalyzes social impact and behavior change for planetary health and sustainability.
