IECA Staff & Committees
The Association Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the IECA, providing administrative support and coordination of services in alignment with the organization's mission.
 | | Association Manager: Valentina Martinez-Valdes Valentina is a communication and administrative professional with over 15 years of experience in project management, public outreach, and training program design. She has a combined science and environmental communication background and a foundation in administration and customer service. As a management professional, she is passionate about working with people and providing operational assistance in dynamic working environments. |
The IECA's standing committees are tasked with implementing and sustaining the long-term strategic objectives of our organization. Members of the Board of Directors or individual association members can chair a standing committee, with the exception of the Executive Committee. Committee Chairs report to the Board of Directors. For full details about our committees, please see our bylaws.
All IECA members, especially new and student members, are encouraged to join committees. If you are interested in participating in any of our standing committees, please contact the committee using the email address provided below.
 | Executive Committee: consists of the four Officers of the Board, Chaired by the Board Chair. This committee provides navigational direction to the Board and Association, prioritizes issues for the Board to handle, responds to urgent matters between Board meetings, and oversees staff, reporting details to the rest of the Board. | - Gabi Mocatta, Chair

 | Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (I.D.E.A.) Committee: helps facilitate diversity within the organization and wider field of environmental communication. | - Committee Chair: Anke Wonneberger

 | Outreach Committee: develops and coordinates marketing and outreach activities to engage our members and partners, including social media content and other communication campaigns. | - Committee Chair: Sibo Chen

| Conference Committee: coordinates and plans the biennial Conference on Communication and the Environment (COCE) in collaboration with the Local Host Committee and Association staff. Tasks include but are not limited to managing submission reviews, creating the conference program, tracking registrations, and other logistics.

 | Research Committee: works with the publisher in selecting the Editor of Environmental Communication and manages the affiliation agreement. This committee also promotes other research and publication opportunities for IECA members that advance the environmental communication profession. | - Committee Chair: Kundai Chirindo

 | Development Committee: is responsible for developing programs and other initiatives that support the organization's financial stability. Currently, this committee is focused on establishing education and training opportunities. | - Committee Chair: Stephen Depoe, IECA Treasurer

 | Awards Committee: establishes and implements recognition initiatives and programs for environmental communication accomplishments, including awards conferred at COCE as well as other activities relevant to our Association's mission. | - Committee Chair: Hanna Morris

 | Nominations Committee: assists the Board in developing a slate of Board Officer nominees by recruiting, screening, and presenting candidates for election and appointment in the case of at-large Board positions. |
