India has committed to meet 50% of its energy requirements through non-fossil fuel energy by installing 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. This calls for a clean energy transition that is equitable to all stakeholders.
To improve public awareness of this ambitious target, including progress toward achieving a just transition and the challenges ahead, EJN and the Just Transition Research Centre (JTRC) at IIT Kanpur are jointly organizing a three-day workshop for communicators. The JTRC seeks to enable evidence- driven and inclusive policymaking to facilitate the country’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
The workshop sessions are designed to strengthen the skills of communicators to explore relatively under-reported renewable energy issues in India. Selected communicators will have the opportunity to engage with researchers, thematic experts, policymakers and communities to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the situation.
