Leonor Solís is responsible for the Environmental Communication Area of the Ecosystems & Sustainability Research Institute of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Her work includes: social media management, photography, video production, journalism and media relations. She also works and supports research projects in science communication with rural impoverished communities and coordinates institutional environmental workshops and activities with young people and children. Her work as a science communicator has been developed as audiovisual communication, hence her special interest in visual environmental communication.
Leonor is developing her doctoral research in the audiovisual communication of climate change in social media. She has an interdisciplinary profile having studied her BA in Biology and a MS in Ethnoecology. Additionally, she is working in photography and has been the coordinator of the audiovisual professional division of the Mexican Society of Science Communication and founding member of the Mexican Network of Science Journalism.
As a member of the Association, she hopes to contribute to both: the development of environmental communication and the diffusion of IECA in Latin American and southern countries.
